Return to Practise - #COVID19 Pandemic - UK

Within recent days, the General Pharmaceutical Council (#GPhC @TheGPhC) has been ordered by The Secretary of State (@MattHancock) for Health and Social Care (@DHSCgovuk) in the United Kingdom (#GOV) to employ their “Emergency Powers” such that those #Pharmacy Professionals that have removed themselves from the register can re-register to help with the current #COVID19 pandemic / current on-going #emergency situation. The ‘Temporary Register’ includes those who have voluntarily removed themselves or were removed for non-renewal from the GPhC register in the last 3 years; importantly with no #Fitness to Practise issues.

The current estimate is that 6250 #Pharmacists within the #UK can now return to the register during the #COVID19 pandemic. Naturally, there is a requirement for those #healthcare professionals to align with the ‘Standard for Pharmacy Professionals’ and this must be within their respective scope (i.e. skills & competence).

Our Lead Tutor, Dr Mike Davies, took a similar - albeit different path - back into practice towards the tail end of 2019. Mike has extensive experience in #Pharmacy Practice, gathered great #academic acumen across the years and fully understands the #feelings / #concerns associated with moving back into the world of Pharmacy.
