Freestyle Libre Cover-Patient Advice

Whilst working in community #pharmacy this week, I spoke with a patient who was having difficulty with her #Abbott FreeStyle Libre (#freestylelibre) sensor to monitor her #diabetes control.

On questioning, it transpired that the patient worked with horses on a local farm and that the job was physical in nature with a lot of movement involved. The excessive level of movement plus random impaction with the horses caused her sensor to detach from her arm quite often during the day, which of course was undesirable on many counts.

I recommended that she visit www.amazon.co.uk to find a Freestyle Libre sensor armband holder to protect the product and ensure that it remained in position throughout the day.

The #customer was very happy with the advice given as she thought highly of the sensor and the freedom it offered in terms of glucose monitoring ‘on-the-go’. She said that she would go and order the product to help with her daily routine at work.

My positive interaction with the customer shows that being a #pharmacist is not only about knowing about medicines and how they work; it is also about overcoming problems so that #patients get the best benefit from their medicines or medical devices.
